In a resurfaced Instagram video, South African-born international comedian Trevor Noah opened up about his life before fame.
Successful South African-born international comedian, Trevor’s career has blown up in recent years. From having his audience rolling on the floor laughing at his shows in Mzansi, to touring all over the world, and hosting The Daily Show in America to returning to his home ground to host a comedy game show, the beloved interracial comedian proves to only be at the beginning of something great. TREVOR NOAH BEFORE FAME
In the 2011 documentary, You Laugh But It’s True, Trevor took to the streets of Soweto and took a trip down memory lane. At a point, the comedian could be seen inside a South African taxi as he opened up about his previous job before he decided to become a comedian.
“I used to drive one of these (a Toyota Siyaya taxi), on the same route. When I was driving a taxi, I was 22. It’s not the easiest gig in the world. But in the end, it got stolen. A few months later, I got into comedy,” he could be heard saying in a video.
THE COMEDIAN RETURNS TO MZANSI
Trevor Noah has since made a name for himself with hilarious stand-up shows including Trevor Noah: Daywalker (2009), Trevor Noah: That’s Racist (2012), Trevor Noah: It’s My Culture (2013), African American (2013), and more, IMDB reported. By 2015, he joined The Daily Show in America and hosted the show for seven seasons, E!News reported.
In 2018, Noah returned to South Africa for the Global Citizen concert. He decided to pay his 91-year-old grandmother at the time, Nomalizo Frances Noah a visit ahead of the festival, IOL reported. According to Okay Africa, she is said to have described the comedian as having been “energetic and really naughty” when he was a child. “Those big bums, they know my slippers,” Nomalizo was quoted as saying.
The comedian will be returning to South Africa again to host LOL: Last One Laughing which is set to launch on Amazon’s Prime Video in 2024.
