The Kiffness (real name, David Scott) has made a name for himself in South Africa for his mixture of satirical content and political statements.
The singer has never shied from criticising the country’s leadership through song and it’s gained him fans not just in South Africa, but across the globe. While crime is an issue that many people grapple with in South Africa, Scott quickly discovered that it’s a problem all across the world.

ROBBERY RUINS DETROIT FOR THE KIFFNESS
What was supposed to be an exciting evening for fans of The Kiffness turned sour before it even began. The singer is currently in the middle of a North American tour with his band. They’ve played sold-out shows in Philadelphia, New York, Montreal as well as Toronto so far and Tuesday the 7th of November was meant to see them hit Detroit as their next stop.

Unfortunately, just hours before they were meant to hit the stage, the singer-songwriter shared a troubling update on social media. He wrote on his artist pages, “This morning, our tour van got broken into in a secure parking space along with a few other cars. A bunch of our gear is missing, but we’re going to try our best to make a plan before the show tonight. It gets worse… Our merch guy was getting what was left out of the car now & someone tried to take the keys from him, but he ran away & called the police. Luckily they detained him now while he was looting the car. Our poor merch guy is in shock.”

‘SORRY TO DETROIT FANS’
It got worse for The Kiffness and his fans. The extent of the theft meant that, sadly, the show could no longer go on and he was forced to announce a cancellation and issue ticket refunds.
He added, “I’m very sorry to inform my fans in Detroit that tonight’s show’s been cancelled due to gear being stolen out of our van. Between getting a new van, new equipment, police reports, we just don’t have enough time to get the show ready. Refunds available at point of purchase”
