The legendary Morning Live broadcaster, Vuyo Mbuli died on 19 May 2013. Soon after his death, a family spokesperson, Rowena Baired revealed that Vuyo’s “blood had clotted”, IOL reported. He was buried at Westpark cemetery in Johannesburg.

The legendary Morning Live presenter is tremendously missed by his loved ones. “You are a Legend! Truly so! Little did you know the difference you would make to the lives of so many people,” Vuyo’s wife, Savita penned on Instagram.

In her post, she opened up about how caring and visionary Vuyo was. “In the beautiful town of Port Alfred, there was an ugly part not shown in pictures. The other side. Where communities lived on the riverbanks in unsafe informal structures that would be swept away if the tide became too high or during the rainy season,” she wrote.

“People would come back from work/school homeless. This bothered my husband and gave birth to the first Private Public Partnership. He called local, provincial, and national governments and a bank put them on TV,” Savita recalled.

MBULI ON HER LATE HUSBAND’S LEGACY

Fast forward, Savita Mbuli says the community today is thriving and a “relatively big township”, even “bigger than Pimville’s Zone 4 & 5 combined”, she said. “All because [of who] my husband was,” she boasted.

Savita expressed her pride as she praised what Vuyo had done in Port Alfred, saying that his work would benefit future generations. “What moves me even more is the stories people who live there tell. Some are so expressive when they see me in town. I flex on my kids when we pass there and be on some ‘You know my husband did this’. On days when I’m nice to them I’ll be on: ‘You know your Dad did this’,” she joked.

“A life lived with a purpose. Continue to rest in peace Myenam [my husband],” Savita penned.
