A few weeks ago, South Africans were left heartbroken when the national cricket team, the Proteas, were booted from the ICC Cricket World Cup. Many aimed their blame at the team’s captain Temba Bavuma who admitted to playing despite not being in top form. As a result, he was treated to a cold reception when he landed in SA this week.

He has also faced a ton of criticism and backlash from locals who have now also compared him to rugby captain Siya Kolisi.

SA STILL SLAMMING TEMBA BAVUMA OVER CRICKET WORLD CUP LOSS

South African cricket fans across the country have been left heartbroken after the Proteas were booted out of the World Cup by Australia on Thursday 16 November.

Many had hopes that the team would follow in the Springboks footsteps and bring the Cup home again.

They have also started pointing fingers at who they believe is to blame for the loss and it would appear that captain Temba Bavuma is bearing a lot of the brunt.

Especially after he admitted to not being 100% ready for the match against Australia.

Australia ultimately took the Cup leaving South Africans breathing through their wounds.

ZERO KOLISI EFFECT

Many of them are still blasting Temba Bavuma who they are also comparing to captain Siya Kolisi.

“I remember Cheslin Kolbe not playing at the Rugby World Cup semi final in 2019 – because he missed training on the Monday before the match. Team rule: if you miss Monday, you miss the match. If a player is not 100% match fit – he lets the whole team down,” one person said.
