HIS EARLY RECOGNITION?

In 2006, Eric Moyo’s musical journey sparked when he participated in Zimbabwe’s talent search platform, A-Academy. His captivating performances and undeniable talent propelled him into the limelight, securing him a spot among the top 3 finalists. This early recognition marked the onset of his rise in the music industry, laying the groundwork for his future accomplishments.

ERIC MOYO AND HIS STEPPING STONE TO SUCCESS

Fuelled by his love for music, Moyo entered the first-ever Idols East Africa competition. His remarkable singing prowess and unwavering dedication to his artistry propelled him to victory, outshining fellow contenders and claiming the championship. This success not only bestowed upon him an esteemed title but also came with a substantial cash prize of US$80,000. Moreover, it opened the door to a valuable recording contract with Sony BMG, a coveted achievement within the music industry. This triumph marked a pivotal moment, serving as the catalyst that launched his career to unprecedented heights within the musical landscape.

HIS JOURNEY TO JOIN JOYOUS CELEBRATION?

In 2011, fate brought Moyo across paths with Lindelani Mkhize, co-founder of Joyous Celebration. Although their initial plans didn’t come to fruition, destiny intervened, reigniting the possibility of Moyo becoming part of the renowned choir. Their reunion in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, in 2014 set the stage for Moyo’s inclusion into Joyous Celebration. This crucial development marked a turning point in his musical journey, securing his position within the acclaimed ensemble and adding his exceptional talent to the group’s continued triumphs.

ERIC MOYO’S DEATH?

The unexpected tragedy occurred on December 15 as Moyo collapsed during a stage performance, causing shock within the music community. Swiftly taken to a hospital in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, he courageously battled the illness, prompting numerous prayers for his recovery. He then died on Wednesday, 20 December.
