Before Megan Markle and Kate Middleton, there was Princess Diana. The Princess’ unique flare for fashion is exactly why she’s forever cemented as one of the most stylish and fashionable royal to come out of Buckingham Palace.
Not only did she appeal to the masses with her charm, but she inspired a whole generation when it came to her effortless sense of style. Whether attending a Gala, sporting event or charity Princess Diana always dressed to impress.

Although the Princess has sadly passed on, she lives on through fashion. Here are some of our favourite fashion moments from the late Princess Diana.

1. Princess Diana’s iconic “revenge dress’.
Diana attended a gala at the Serpentine Gallery in London wearing a fitted black, off-the shoulder dress with a chiffon train that flowed in the wind. The Princess competed this look with black sheer stocking, a black clutch bag and pearl chocker. She wore this the evening when Prince Charles confessed on national television that he had been unfaithful to her.
2. Stunning in teal.
Here Princess Diana arrived to a banquet at the Mansion House by the Lord Mayor of London. The banquet was in honour of the Australian Prime Minister Robert Hawke in 1989. Diana wore a teal one-shoulder gown, paired with a matching clutch bag and shoes. She completed her look with dainty tiara.
3. Running errands
Despite stunning on the red carpet, Diana was never afraid to tone it down. Here the Princess who seems to be running errands wears white tights together with a navy jumper and white sneakers. She completed the look with a brown tote bag and black sunglasses.
4. An angel in white.
Attending a formal dinner in Budapest on the 7 May 1990, Diana wears a white embroidered dress with pearls. The Princess completes the looks with her pearl and sapphire choker, white heels and a white purse.
5. Princess Diana in Cannes.
In May 1987 Lady Diana together with Princes Charles attended the 40th Cannes Festival in France. The Princess wore a baby blue gown by one of her favourite designers Catherine Walker. The dress featured a long chic scarf that flowed like a train. She wore flat baby blue shoes and blue diamond earrings with a matching bracelet.
