Meghan Markle, the former actress turned Duchess of Sussex, apparently believed she had a unique claim to the charity spotlight upon joining the royal family. According to a royal insider, Markle felt she had “more of a right to speak” on philanthropy than her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton.

The reason? Meghan saw herself as a seasoned philanthropist who could enlighten the royals about the nuances of charitable work.

However, her aspirations hit a roadblock when she realized that the royal family already had well-established philanthropic initiatives.
