Martin Luther King’s son dies, cause of death revealed
May his soul rest in eternal peace: Martin Luther King’s son Dexter Scott King passed away on Monday, 22 January.
Martin Luther King’s son, Dexter Scott King sadly passed away on Monday, 22 January, The King Centre revealed in a statement yesterday.

RIP: MARTIN LUTHER KING’S SON, DEXTER SCOTT KING DIES
The King Center revealed that Dexter Scott King died peacefully at home in Malibu and in his sleep after battling prostate cancer.
“Dexter Scott King, the youngest son and the third child of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mrs. Coretta Scott King has passed today, January 22, 2024, after a valiant battle with prostate cancer,” the statement read.

His best friend of 21 years and wife of 11 years, Leah Weber King are said to have been present during Dexter’s final hours. “He gave it everything and battled this terrible disease until the end. As with all the challenges in his life, he faced this hurdle with bravery and might,” Dexter’s wife was quoted as saying.
Dexter’s sister Reverend Dr Bernice A. King, the CEO of The King Center also shared a few words as seen in the statement. “Words cannot express the heartbreak I feel from losing another sibling. I’m praying for strength to get through this very difficult time,” she said.

MORE ABOUT THE LATE FATHER AND SON
Dexter Scott King was born in Atlanta on 30 January 1961 and is said to have been named after Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery Alabama, where his father served his first pastorate.
Dexter died at the age of 62 and was only seven years old when his father, the iconic human rights activist was assassinated on 4 April 1968 Memphis in Tennessee.
