Former Paralympic athlete and convicted murderer Oscar Pistorius now works at a Pretoria church voluntarily as a caretaker.

IT IS BELIEVED PISTORIUS BEGAN VOLUNTEERING AT THE CHURCH AFTER HIS RELEASE

According to a report by JuigNuus, Pistorius began volunteering in the NG Kerk Waterkloof after his release as part of his community service.

The report further states that during his eight years in prison, Pistorius held Bible studies and prayer meetings.

He attends the services of this church, reports De Telegraaf.

ACCORDING TO REPORTS HE ALSO ATTENDS THE SERVICES

Thanks to his uncle, the former athlete has now been welcomed by the NG Kerk Waterkloof.

It is a large family church in Pretoria. Pistorius works there voluntarily as a caretaker.

However, a witness says he stays in the background as much as possible.

EARLIER THIS YEAR, AUTHORITIES RELEASED PISTORIUS ON PAROLE

Earlier this year, authorities released Pistorius on parole.

The report said he then tried to get a job with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), but they were reluctant to work with him given his past.

According to a report by Daily Mail UK, Pistorius registered the church as his place of work in his parole paperwork. When not attending services, he carries out light maintenance and janitorial work.

HE REGISTERED THE CHURCH AS HIS PLACE OF WORK ON PAROLE PAPERWORK

For years, Pistorius, also known as the Blade Runner, earned a reputation as the fastest man without legs.

He won six gold medals at the Paralympics and was the first legless athlete to compete in the regular Olympics.

In 2013, the court sentenced him to thirteen years in prison for shooting Steenkamp through the bathroom door. Pistorius has always maintained that he panicked because he thought there was a burglar in the house, after which he started shooting.

PISTORIUS IS LIVING WITH HIS UNCLE AT HIS LUXURY WATERKLOOF HOME

Upon his release on bail prior to his conviction, Pistorius initially resided at his uncle Arnold’s luxury Waterkloof home. It is now believed that he occupies a garden cottage on the property’s manicured grounds.

Pistorius remains penned in by the restrictions of his parole conditions, which will continue until the end of his sentence in 2029.

These include maintaining specific hours of when he has to return home, bans on using illicit substances and drinking alcohol, and undergoing therapy for anger issues and on the subject of gender-based violence.

According to the Daily Mail UK, Pistorius also has a monitoring official to keep up with any changes he might want to make to his work or life set-up.

HE REMAINS PENNED IN BY STRICK RESTRICTIONS OF HIS PAROLE CONDITIONS

Authorities also prohibit Pistorius from conducting interviews or penning a memoir, maintaining a veil of silence over his life post-release.

He is banned, too, from contacting the Steenkamps.

Meanwhile, Barry Steenkamp, father of Reeva, died at the age of 80 in September last year.

His death comes a decade after convicted murderer Pistorius shot and killed his daughter.
