The Kiffness – real name Dave Scott – has courted controversy once again with his political views.
The Cape Town muso – known for his satirical parodies and unusual remixes – had the X platform up in arms when he tweeted a meme about political parties to vote for ahead of the general elections next month.
SA MUSO BRANDED ‘RACIST’ OVER POLITICAL VIEWS
On his X account, The Kiffness shared a meme depicting a “South African” who was faced with the choice of who to vote for in the elections. The person in the cartoon picture stood at a fork with two paths; one led to a bright future, and another led to something out of a nightmare.
On the path of light were political parties like the DA, VF, and ACDP, amongst others. The one that led to darkness was the ruling party, the ANC, and other opposition parties like the EFF, the Patriotic Alliance, the GOOD party, and the MK Party, led by former president Jacob Zuma.
According to the muso, parties like Rise and BOSA, led by Mmusi Maimane, had “fallen off the cliff.”
“Which way, South Africa?” The Kiffness asked his followers.
In the comment section, the outspoken artist received much backlash for his depiction of political parties and what they stood for. Many X users accuse the muso of “racism” and “fear-mongering.”
@PostiveImpact89: “When you really love to be racist, and you are proud to show it.. this is what happens.”
@Mat_Sog: “Whitest thing I’ve seen all week.”
@kumkaniWeAfrika: “Supporters on the left are mainly apartheid beneficiaries. They cannot be trusted. So I would go with the ones on the right.”
Also criticising The Kiffness was actor and media personality Siv Ngesi who tweeted: “This is racist AF.
Clapping back at criticism, he responded: “Is pointing out the truth racist?”
To another critic who accused him of being “racist” for adding pictures of KFC chicken near the ANC logo, he responded: “This is what the ANC does… Don’t shoot the messenger.”
The Kiffness also reposted a clip of ANC members being given KFC meals during a recent rally.
He added: “So making a picture illustrating what the ANC does to bribe voters makes me racist? I think I get it now.”
