‘I don’t even have words’: Dricus du Plessis thanks South Africa
South Africa’s first UFC champion, Dricus du Plessis, thanked Mzansi after he landed in the country with his belt
South African MMA fighter Dricus du Plessis thanked Mzansi after he won the UFC 297 middleweight against Sean Strickland on 21 January.
It’s been a few happy days for South Africans as they celebrated with Dricus on his historic win.

Dricus became the first South African to be a UFC champion, and he was proud. All the way, South African fans had been behind him, cheering to go and win; they even defended him on social media. With many believing that Dricus was an underdog, South Africa stood with him, believing in him.

“They don’t know what we know.”
Indeed, Dricus du Plessis and his South African fans showed that those who did not believe in him did not know something they knew.

Sharing on his Instagram, he poured out his heart, returning the love he got from South Africa. He showed that he was a man who knew to come back to the fans and thank them even when in glory.

“I don’t even have words!!” he started, failing to find the right words to describe his feelings. “Thank you so much, South Africa 🇿🇦, We did it, champions of the World!🙏🏻” he finished thanking South Africa and celebrating being a world champion.
