Media personality Jub Jub was given a stern warning by Magistrate Betty Khumalo on Wednesday, 8 November, when he appeared at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.

The Uyajola 9/9 host, whose real name is Molemo Maarohanye, is facing 13 counts of rape, assault, attempted murder and kidnapping.

JUB JUB’S CASE POSTPONED

According to IOL, the matter was postponed to 11 December. However, his legal representative, advocate Terrence Ntsako Baloyi said that in December the rapper was fully booked and would be unavailable.

“Your Worship, regarding the issue of the 11th (of December) he is indicating some form of unavailability. I am not sure if the court would want me to turn into the details,” Baloyi said addressing the court.

Magistrate Khumalo interjected: “Can you indulge me on what is it that is a matter of life and death (which makes him unavailable in December). What is the valid reason? Put it appropriately”.

Baloyi told Khumalo that the rapper will be on tour from 2 December and will be highly committed on his next court appearance date.

Lashing out, Khumalo said: “When you proposed a date to me, have you not consulted? Already, I have made an order. You see? I am not inclined to change my order. That date should not have been proposed from the onset if you knew that your client would be unavailable.

“If your client is not available, a warrant of arrest will be authorised. You will have to see to it. The case stands down for December 11.”

At the time, Baloyi said the musician is shocked and has lost faith in the justice system.

“He’s devastated and he is at the time where he doesn’t understand what these charges are all about and why they crop up now. So, he is so disappointed with the justice system and how things are being done. It seems like men are given so much power who can bring down any man who is coming up and that becomes unfair to our justice system,” the SABC quoted Baloyi as saying.
