Hollywood A-lister Jane Fonda seems to have touched a nerve, once again, as many X users react to an old clip of the actress expressing how climate change and other social issues like homophobia, misogyny and sexism are direct causes of racism and colonization.

In the resurfaced video Fonda appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show back in February. The actor was joined by her 80 for Brady co-stars, Rita Moreno, Lily Tomlin and Sally Field.
While on The Kelly Clarkson show all co-stars opened up about their experiences facing sexual harassment in the film industry. In addition to this they also shared stories of their respective efforts of social activism.
In response to Kelly Fonda shared how her journey into activism started when she understood the severity of the Vietnam War.
“For me it was when I learned about the Vietnam War. When I really understood what that was about, I couldn’t do anything except join the movement, trying to stop it!”, Jane told Kelly.
Jane Fonda continued: “Well you know you can take anything; sexism, racism, misogyny, homophobia; if you really get into it, study it and learn about it and the history, you’ll notice that everything is connected…There’d be no climate crisis if it wasn’t for racism!”.

‘CAN SOMEONE BE THIS STUPID?’
While Fonda seems to be making fair points some don’t agree with her. A few have even gone to the extent of calling her a “traitor” because of her stance during the Vietnam War.
“Traitor!”, one X user shared.
Despite not being a fan favourite, many other users agree with Jane Fonda’s approach and opinions.
“Racism justified active colonization for natural resource and labour extraction to sustain the lifestyles of the first fossil fuel societies. The nature & bodies of our ancestors were seen as inferior & disposable simply because of our skin colour. Racism drives genocide drives ecocide”, one X user shared.
Jane’s take on the global climate crisis and its causes comes as no surprise. The actress has always been vocal and passionate about climate activism. In May 2023 reported by the NY post, Jane specifically blamed white men for contributing to the current climate crisis.
