Is Mbalula backtracking on his promise to end load shedding?
Mbalula appears to be getting a little hot under the collar because it’s almost time make good on his promise to abolish load shedding.
It’s been another difficult year for South Africans who are being forced to come to terms with long hours of load shedding daily. Many have slammed the ruling party whose idea to pay a “Minister of Electricity” has yet to yield any fruitful results. Feeling the heat, ANC secretary general Fikile Mbalula made a bold promise that load shedding will be a thing of the past come December.
It would appear that it was all talk for Mbalula who has now headed online to sing a different tune.

FIKILE MBALULA BACK TRACKS ON LOAD SHEDDING PROMISE

During an eNCA interview with JJ Thabane in May this year, Fikile Mbalula shocked many by promising that the ANC would end load shedding.
“Load shedding – before the end of the year – should be a thing of the past.”
When asked if his claim was another empty promise, Fikile said: “I can assure you, load shedding will be reversed, and it will be dealt with decisively.”

BACK TRACKING?
Now that December is upon us, it would appear that Mbalula is getting nervous.
Taking to X, he wrote that an action plan is being implemented to help reach their goal. He did however happen to add that if load shedding is not fixed, there will be a “reasonable explanation”.
“We have said we want loadshedding to be gone by December, we have further said that the action plan that is being implemented must take us to guaranteeing energy security for permanent exit from loadshedding and not for electioneering purposes, but rather for fixing the economy, and that remains our key goal.
“If loadshedding ends before the end of December then we will be elated, however, if it goes beyond that then there must be a reasonable explanation as to what is holding us back.
“As the ANC, there we are expecting the timelines to be fully implemented by December, and we are very much hopeful that we will get out of this, guaranteeing the nation a long lasting solution of doing away with loadshedding #ANCatWork,” he said.
Needless to say, social media users could see through the post and wasted no time trolling the minister.
“Cyril has been promising the end of loadshedding since 2015. We don’t believe it anymore,” one person said.
