Doja Cat performed at Coachella this year again. She decided to show her other side and performed with an A capella South African group.

Doja Cat just knows how to keep her fans entertained. Or is she giving them what they asked for? She went back to her roots with a performance, sharing the stage with some brilliant South African singers in a showstopping performance at Coachella. The 28-year-old American singer who claims to have never met her South African father, former Sarafina! actor Dumisani Dlamini performed a song with her background singers singing in Zulu.
Having given the group a large platform to showcase their skills and perform with her at Coachella, The Joy has since thanked her in an appreciation post.
“It’s been so hard to keep this a secret!! Tonight we performed with the amazing @dojacat on @coachella ‘s main stage in front of 100, 000 people! Thank you, Amala, or rather Zandile. Thank you to the incredible team that made this moment happen. You made us feel very welcome! And thank you to everyone who reached out after watching the stream from all around the world,” The Joy penned on their feed.
MORE ABOUT THE SINGER AT COACHELLA
Doja Cat may enjoy toying with her fans, but with that same energy, she makes sure to serve them with the most creative fashion ideas when she comes on stage. According to Variety, the Say So hitmaker had multiple wardrobe changes and did not fall short when it came to changing her hair as well on Sunday.
She is said to have started with a Hazmat suit and later went on to be in a white, furry bikini. If you think that was all from Doja Cat, she then reportedly followed by a yellow, broad-shouldered leotard of sorts. Besides her special performance with The Joy, the American A-lister was also said to have been joined on stage by 21 Savage (who performed his own n.h.i.e.) as well as ASAP Rocky (who joined her on her new song URRRGE!!!!!!!!!!”).
Even though some of her roots are in Mzansi, Doja Cat has admitted that she has not been in South Africa. Earlier this year, IOL quoted her as saying: “I still haven’t. I rely on my career to just throw me out to places.”
