DJ Shimza donates 1000 school shoes to underprivileged pupils

‘It always feels important for me to give back’: DJ Shimza to donate 1000 school shoes to underprivileged pupils in Thembisa, Gauteng.

As schools are set to open this week, South African-born international disc jockey, Ashley Kholofelo Raphala also known as DJ Shimza, has decided to donate school shoes to learners in various schools around his home township of Thembisa, Gauteng, ZiMoja reported.

DJ SHIMZA GIVES BACK, DONATES SCHOOL SHOES

According to the publication, every year, DJ Shimza hosts a Christmas lunch for orphans in Thembisa which is then followed by a shoe donation drive. He does this through his foundation, Shimuzic Foundation. According to the foundation’s social media bio, they aim to better the lives of the underprivileged children in Tembisa through donor-driven initiatives.

The 39-year-old renowned disc jockey and businessman will reportedly be handing out 1000 pairs of school shoes to pupils from the area where he grew up. “It always feels important for me to give back to the community that supports me and my music,” DJ Shimza was quoted as saying. The shoes are said to be branded 1000 Hopeful Soles which is a name inspired to spread hope among the learners.

THE LAUCH OF SHIMUZOC FOUNDATION

Last year, November, DJ Shimza pulled his weight in an aim to fight against the high unemployment rate in the country and launched an internship programme through his foundation, Shimuzic Foundation, Sunday World reported. He is said to have managed to partner with the Hollywood Foundation to establish THE HUB, an initiative with a level three SETA accreditation.

According to the publication, the launch of the new venture was held at his food and drinks establishment, the Hang Awt, which is also loacted in Thembisa. The internship reportedly seeks to help bridge the gap of poverty by offering practical and real-world experience to lead to better job opportunities
