David Beckham: Inter Miami see surge in followers following documentary release
The release of the David Beckham documentary on Netflix has seen Inter Miami get a bump in social media following.
The new Netflix documentary on David Beckham has seen his Major League Soccer team get a big social media bump.
According to Social Blade Inter Miami CF has gained 50,391 new Instagram followers since the new Netflix documentary on David Beckham, the club’s co-owner, was released on 4 October.
The folks at Play Minesweeper used Social Blade to analyze the Instagram following of Inter Miami CF (@intermiamicf) on 4 October and compared this to the follower count as of 18 October.

While the four-part documentary focuses on David Beckham’s career as a professional player, many people are interested in his more recent enterprise as a co-owner of Inter Miami CF.

In 2007, upon signing with LA Galaxy, the English midfielder was given the option to buy a future expansion team with a price tag of $25 million – and seven years later, Beckham announced that he’d taken the leap. Prior to this, the city had been without an MLS team since 2001. Officially joining the group in 2017 with Marcelo Claure, Masayoshi Son, Jorge Mas, and Jose Mas, the club was founded in 2018 and made their MLS debut in 2020 at DRV Pink Stadium.

However, in 2021, Beckham alongside Jorge and Jose Mas bought out Claure and Son, with the English football legend becoming the face of the ownership group and taking over team activities. With Beckham bringing in footballers such as Messi, the club is now valued at a staggering $600 million, and is the 11th most valuable club in MLS.
In fact, Messi, like Inter Miami CF, has received an overwhelming follower boost of 2,496,000 in just 30 days following ongoing talks of his muscle injury and concerns over his absence in games. The Argentinian footballer sat out of Inter Miami CF’s match against Charlotte FC, and many are speculating that he will soon leave the club on loan – rumors to which he has denied.
