Comedian ‘Stopnonsons’ Matila faces charges of assault against girlfriend
On Tuesday, 8 August, the SABC presenter and comedian was arrested following claims that he attacked his girlfriend and directed a firearm at her.
Television host and comedian Tumi ‘Stopnonsons’ Matila confronts accusations of assaulting his girlfriend and aiming a firearm, right after Women’s Day.
According to Briefly, the comedian spent the night in custody at Honeydew police station, preceding his court appearance.

COMEDIAN ALLEGEDLY AIMS FIREARM AT GIRLFRIEND
On Tuesday, August 8, the arrest happened following claims that the comedian attacked Ngemane and directed a firearm at her.
Captain Mavela Masondo, a police representative, confirmed the comedian’s arrest and shared that he’s due at Randburg magistrate’s court.
Masondo clarified, “A 31-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with assault and pointing a firearm,” confirming police’s stance.

THE ALLEGED INCIDENT HAPPENED DURING A GATHERING
According to reports, the comedian reportedly aimed a firearm at Ngemane and three others while they were together.
The report adds that he allegedly started by hitting his girlfriend then pointed a gun at her.

In addition to his prominence as a sought-after comedian, Matila serves as a presenter on the SABC show “Ikasi Lam,” airing every Saturday night.

Marolien Schmidt, a popular physiotherapist, was fatally stabbed in her Richmond Hill residence on Women’s Day.
The 40-year-old Schmidt was stabbed multiple times and died on her way to the hospital.

MAN ARRESTED FOR THE MURDER OF SCHMIDT
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg reported the arrest of a 29-year-old man in central area for the Richmond Hill murder.

“SAPS Humewood detectives’ dedication led to the arrest of the suspect involved in Marolien’s gruesome murder this morning.”
The accused is set to face the Gqeberha magistrate court on August 14, 2023, as per Captain Janse Van Rensburg.
