BET Soul Train Awards: SZA and Usher dominate
The BET Soul Train awards saw some of the biggest names in R&B and Soul being honoured. Let’s recap on the eventful evening.
This past Sunday, the 26 November, the 2023 BET Soul Train Awards honoured some of the biggest names in R&B, hip-hop and soul music.

A NIGHT TO REMEMBER
Hosted by Keke Palmer, the 2023 BET Soul Train Awards featured performances from the likes of Muni Long, Coco Jones, Janelle Monae, SWV, Jermaine Dupri and T-Pain just to name a few.
The Soul Train Awards sheds light on the best artists and creatives in soul, R&B and hip hop. In addition to this the awards also aims to recognise the next generation of artists.
American R&B singer and songwriter SZA was the top winner at the annual award ceremony.
The SOS singer won four awards including Song of the year, Album of the year, Best R&B/Soul Female artist and the Ashford and Simpson Songwriter’s award.
Usher Raymond won three Soul Train trophies. The Confessions artist won the Best R&B/Soul Male artist award as well as the Best Collaboration Award and the Certified Soul Award.
Victoria Monét on the other hand won two awards. The budding artist won the Video of the year award and Best dance performance award for her hit song On my mama.

BET SOUL TRAIN AWARDS
This highly anticipated Soul Train Awards also honoured the likes of T-Pain and Janelle Monáe with the Legend Award and the Spirit of Soul award.
Newcomer Coco Jones was named best new artist. Gospel singer Kirk Franklin was awarded the best gospel/inspirational award for the fifth consecutive year.
Chris Brown and Nigerian Afrobeat artist Burna Boy also received some awards.
