SASSA: WHAT to do in the event of a grant delay in February 2024

First things first, let’s recap when the next round of South African Social Security Agency payouts will take place:
SASSA FEBRUARY 2024
- Older Persons’ Grants: Friday 2 February 2024 (today).
- Disability Grants: Monday 5 February 2024.
- Children’s Grants: Tuesday 6 February 2024

SASSA MARCH 2024
- Older Persons’ Grants: Tuesday 5 March 2024.
- Disability Grants: Wednesday 6 March 2024.
- Children’s Grants: Thursday 7 March 2024.
As always, the agency reminds beneficiaries that payments may take 2-3 days to reflect depending on your bank.
SASSA GRANT DELAY IN FEBRUARY 2024
If you believe you’ve suffered a SASSA grant delay in February 2024, affected beneficiaries should contact the call centre on 0800 60 10 11. You can also visit your nearest SASSA office to complain; although this will be tricky for the elderly and disabled.

More than 150 000 SASSA grant beneficiaries did not receive their payouts last month, allegedly due to incorrect banking details provided when applying or changing payment methods. If SASSA is unresponsive, you may even contact the President’s office with your complaint.

The President’s office hotline is 17737. The Gov.za website says members of the public can use the toll-free hotline to lodge queries or complaints relating to any government services. You can also email president@presidency.gov.za. So, there you go …
SWITCH BANKS AT ANY TIME
However, if you do experience a SASSA grant delay in February 2024, the good news is you can switch your payment method at any time if they want to avoid unnecessary disruptions. According to SASSA Grants, all you need to do is the following:
- Make sure the personal bank account you want your SASSA grant paid into is in your name.
- Download the Consent Form for Bank Payment HERE.
- Complete in full and sign and date at the bottom.
- Visit a SASSA branch with your completed form, proof of identity (ID document/birth certificate).
- Provide three-month’s bank statement certified by your bank not older than three months.
- Once accepted, your next SASSA grant payment will be paid into the new bank account.
Please note the above does not apply to the R350 Social Relief of Distress Grant.
