- You accrue assets worth more than R1 227 600 (if single), or R2 455 200 (if married).

Furthermore, the agency can review anyone with a 2024 SASSA pension to ensure the above criteria is being adhered to. And the most common reason for exclusion is if beneficiaries’ means change and they no longer comply with the asset and means test.
And if your application is not approved, or you’re excluded after review, SASSA must inform you in writing. Thereafter, if you disagree with the decision, you may appeal to the Department of Social Development. Follow the highlighted link to find all the relevant forms. WHAT SASSA COUNTS AS INCOME?
Likewise, the point of the means test is to make sure people don’t take advantage of the social welfare system. Therefore, it is important to remember what counts as income in the eyes of SASSA:
- A private pension.
- Any money you earn from work and/or a business.
- This included financial assistance from friends, relatives or children.
- Earnings through a rental house/property.
- Additional compensation from government sources like UIF, RAF or COIDA.
- The property or land value in your name with an outstanding bond.
- Any investments/shares in your name that have a certain value.
MAY 2024 SASSA PAY DATES
