Lindiwe Sisulu Dismisses Angelo Agrizzi’s Bosasa Claim

International Relations and Cooperation Minister Lindiwe Sisulu’s office has dismissed Angelo Agrizzi’s claim that the Minister was among the directors of Dyambu Holdings – the company that gave birth to Bosasa.

“This is incorrect and false,” said spokesperson Ndivhuwo Mabaya.

Agrizzi, who is the former Chief Operations Officer (COO) of Bosasa, made the claim at the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into allegations of state capture, corruption, and fraud in the public sector including organs of state on Thursday.

In his testimony to the commission, Agrizzi said Dyambu Holdings – the parent company of Bosasa – issued millions of rand in bribes to get contracts from the state.

“The ministry would like to refer Agrizzi to the company registration documents of Dyambu Holdings, the BCCSA ruling of July 12, 2000 when the BCCSA corrected MNET and ruled that Carte Blanche broadcast an apology on the same matter, and the Parliamentary Hansard of February 1997 where Tony Leon apologised for falsely accusing Sisulu of being a Director of Dyambu Holdings,” said Mabaya.

Mabaya went on to call on Agrizzi to correct his statement in public and before the commission.

The hearings of the commission led by Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo continues Friday morning with Agrizzi’s testimony.

On Thursday, the proceedings had to adjourn early after safety concerns were raised around Agrizzi.

The commission is investigating whether, to what extent and by whom, attempts were made, through any form of inducement or for any gain whatsoever to influence members of the National Executive, including Deputy Ministers, office bearers and directors of the boards of State-owned enterprises (SOEs). – SAnews.gov.za
