EFF leader, Julius Malema says former Eskom COO and CEO, Matshela Koko and Brian Molefe should return to fix the ailing power utility.
The sentiment comes as various energy experts have said that South Africans will experience a cold winter and have not ruled out the possibility of Eskom implementing higher stages of load shedding.
SHOULD KOKO AND MOLEFE RETURN TO ESKOM?
Koko and Molefe have been praised by many and dubbed as the duo who ended load shedding. A number of people have engaged Koko on social media to return to Eskom.
Earlier this year, EFF Deputy President Floyd Shivambu also tipped Molefe for the Eskom CEO post after Andre de Ruyter was released from his contract.

During his briefing on Monday, 15 May, Julius Malema accused Minister of Electricity Dr Gosientsho Ramokgopa of corruption saying he collapsed ANC leader in Tshwane during his tenor as Executive Mayor in the capital city.
Malema further said South Africa is almost at a point of grid collapse and that some are calling it Stage 10 but the reality is it is darkness.
“Let Eskom be under one political leadership, and political authority so that they know they have no option but to take this political direction. Government needs every little cent that we are wasting on Sputla who is not going to help us with anything…Brian must come back, Matshela Koko must come back and all those Indian, Coloured and White engineers,” Malema said.

POWER UTILITY PREPARING FOR STAGE 16 LOAD SHEDDING
Recently, Eskom reportedly confirmed that a new national standards document proposes providing load shedding schedules up to Stage 16.
According to Eskom, the National Rationalised Specifications (NRS) Association of South Africa is finalising the guidelines to ensure that should load shedding beyond Stage 8 become necessary, it is done in an orderly fashion.

The NRS is voluntary forum of organisations formed to collaborate and develop voluntary industry specifications to standardise equipment specifications across the South African Electricity Supply Industry. It is a key body involved with developing and compiling the NRS 048-9 Code of Practice – the code or regulation that essentially governs load shedding.
“The NRS 048-9 Revision 2 describes load-shedding stages up to Stage 8 and obligates all network operators (distributors and municipalities) to develop, publish and implement these schedules when instructed to do so by the System Operator,” Eskom told MyBroadband.
