The hacktivist/s known as Anonymous Africa, after targeting the websites of the SABC, the EFF and Robert Mugabe’s ZANU-PF over the last few days, on Wednesday said they are going after what they called “the 2nd most corrupt family in SA (after the Zumas)”.
Anonymous Africa promised to take the Guptas’ companies offline at midday, and by 2 pm oakbayinvestments.co.za (Oakbay Investments), oakbay.co.za (Oakbay Resources and Energy) and sahara.co.za (Sahara Computers) were not functioning. “This site can’t be reached,” the online message read.
“In 30 min we will target the 2nd most corrupt family in SA (after the Zumas). So sit back, grab some popcorn and enjoy,” the Anonymous Africa tweet said at 11.30 am.
On Sunday, Anon Africa made the SABC sites inactive for several hours, after doing the same to the EFF on Saturday. They promised at the time that this was only the beginning, and “things are going to get wild”.
In an interview with MyBroadband on Tuesday, Anonymous Africa was quoted saying, “Right now anything ANC, ZANU-PF, or EFF is fair game to us. We do have a thing for going after the corrupt and racist. I expect you can see some unjust institutions being targeted.”
