The South African National Congress (ANC) has again called for government to manage the fuel price increases which impact South Africa’s economy.
The ruling party said that the weakening rand is also a contributing factor to the escalating price of the fuel.
In a statement yesterday the ANC said it noted with “deep concern the continued weakening of the rand and implications therefore for our country’s growth prospects and inflation targeting.”
The party said that it’s concerned with the fuel price, which is now at its highest level ever and “putting a squeeze on all aspects of life of fellow South Africans”.
Speaking at a media briefing on Friday, Energy Minister Jeff Radebe said motorists must try to maintain costs while the government tries to come up with ways on how the fuel price increase can be reviewed.
Radebe was speaking during a media briefing on Friday.
Radebe also shared tips on how people can use fuel efficiently, including “moderate their driving habits”.
The Energy Minister also urged retailers to review the increasing price of fuel.
