The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) have announced their grant payment dates for January, though some social grant recipients didn’t receive their funds even after the grants were approved. The late SASSA payments pose a serious threat to many South African households.

Some of the rightful grant recipients (including Childcare Grants) haven’t received their grant payments, and this could have an unintentional negative effect on many South African households – whose budgets won’t keep up with the delays.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) have announced their grant payment dates for the month, though some social grant recipients say that they haven’t received their payments yet.

The move could have a mass-scale negative effect on many household budgets, which might not be able to keep up with delays in the social care system.

According to news published on The South African website, incorrect banking details are one of the reasons given for the late payments.

If you naven’t received your payment yet, contact the SA Social Security Agency to change your banking details.

SASSA: SUBMITTING THE RIGHT BANKING DETAILS

If you have applied to have your social grant paid into your bank account, make sure that you’re listing the correct banking details.

Social grants can only be paid to accounts which contain the right account number, branch code, and recipient name.

If you aren’t sure whether your banking details are correct, contact the national SASSA hotline (+27 80 060 1011) or visit a regional office.

FINDING A REGIONAL OR NATIONAL OFFICE

If you haven’t received your social grant or would like to apply for one, visit your nearest regional office – which means the social grant office that’s closest to your residential address.
