An illegal immigrant who shot four men at a tavern in April 2021 has been sentenced to 23 years in prison.
A 33-year-old illegal foreign man who shot four men at a tavern was sentenced to 23 years direct imprisonment at the Odendaalsrus Regional Court in the Free State.

ILLEGAL IMMGRANT’S SHOOT-OUT AT A TAVERN
On Monday, 12 April 2021, at about 02:15, a shooting incident occurred at a tavern in the K9 section of Kutloanong, where four people were shot.
The suspect fled on foot from the crime scene at the tavern. Three of the victims were taken to the hospital for medical treatment, while the fourth one succumbed to his shot wound.

The incident was reported to Odendaalsrus South African Police Services (SAPS) and a case of murder and attempted murder was registered for further investigation.

The accused, Phoka Zacharia Mohloki’s sentence is as follows:
- Count 1 : Murder 15 years imprisonment;
- Count 2 : Attempted murder 8 years direct imprisonment;
- Count 3 : Attempted murder 5 years direct imprisonment;
- Count 2 and 3 will run concurrently.

TEENAGER ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER
Recently, A 15-year-old suspect was arrested after allegedly stabbing a teenage boy several times at a graveyard near a tavern.
The teenager was allegedly collected from his home in Khotha Section in Phahameng, Bultfontein, on 9 May 2023 at about 22:15.
He was forced to go to the graveyard near a tavern in Phahameng, where the suspect allegedly stabbed him several times.

The teenager (victim) sustained wounds on his back, hands, chest and neck. He managed to flee and seek help at the nearby house. He was admitted to a nearby hospital.
Police responded to the scene near a tavern, and a case of attempted murder was registered.
