Bafana Bafana have seen a slight rise in the latest FIFA rankings, thanks to their 2-1 win over Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier earlier this month.

While this was already a ‘dead rubber’ given that both Bafana Bafana and Morocco had already qualified for the finals, winning was also important.

In doing so, Bafana Bafana jumped from 66th to 62nd in the world, and that’s four places up from the April rankings.

The rankings will go a long way into Bafana Bafana avoiding to face the big guns when the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers is seeded.

Bafana Bafana are still 12th in CAF rankings while Morocco remains the number one ranked team on the African continent.

However, Morocco dropped in the world rankings – they were ranked 11th in April but they are now placed 13th.
