South African President Jacob Zuma’s ex-wife Dr Nkosazna Dlamini Zuma became one of the country’s newest Members of Parliament (MP) at a swearing-in ceremony on Thursday… bringing her chances of becoming SA’s next president just a little closer.

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Lechesa Tsenoli swore in the former African Union Commission Chairperson, as well as Mathews Wolmarans on Thursday morning.

Dlamini Zuma replaces Pule Mabe, while Wolmarans replaces Brian #SaxonwoldShebeen Molefe. Both new MPs are from the ruling African National Congress.

Meanwhile, former ANC MP Dr Makhosi Khoza quit the “corrupt” ANC on Thursday, saying “I am leaving the ANC of Jacob Zuma. This ANC is very corrupt to the core. It has no organizational capacity to self-correct.” Full speech below.

She stressed that she would not be joining the DA, and that although today she leaves the “corrupt ANC”, she will “never leave the ANC values”.

Dr Khoza said: “How do we remain members of the ANC when upright members questioning corrupt tendencies are threatened and assassinated?”

She accused Zuma’s ANC of being nothing more than a “get-rich-quick-scheme while our poor people get poorer by the day. I will never betray my people.”
Dr Khoza said the ANC of men like Nelson Mandela and Oliver Tambo is dead. “The ANC of Zuma is a shadow of its former self,” she said, and asked: “How did we get to a point where 80-90% of ANC leaders are corrupt & potential prisoners? Why are we led by criminals?”

Future generations will surely ask, she said: “How did we get to a point where the ANC is led by a man facing 783 charges of corruption?”
