Two of South Africa’s most famous expats – comedian Trevor Noah and movie star Charlize Theron – are back home at the same time… and got together to make a special visit to a local school in Cape Town on Monday… where they had the best fun doing the African Haka.
The school, Oaklands High, said: “We had some special guests visit our school today. Trevor Noah and Charlize Theron came and engaged with a group of our students. Thanks to Life Choices for the great partnership may we continue our great work together.”
Life Choices is a movement investing in the youth to tackle inequality, and is one of the organisations supported by Charlize’s Africa Outreach Project.
The South African celebrities were joined by Charlize’s good friend, American comedian and TV show host Chelsea Handler.
Trevor, who is on tour in South Africa with ‘There’s a Gupta on My Stoep’, wrote: “Joining @charlizeafrica @chelseahandler and the coolest teacher Nkosana in the most fun classroom, learning things I wish I had learned about in school. At the end of the lesson they end with an African Haka! Oaklands High in Cape Town.”
He uploaded a video of the African Haka, and said: “Thank you Oaklands High and Life Choices for giving us an opportunity to be part of something so amazing. To see how much better a person’s life can be if we just invest in people at a young age is inspiring and eye opening.”
Charlize recently appeared on Trevor’s The Daily Show in the USA, where the two SA expats reminisced about life in South Africa.
