A 813-carat diamond named The Constellation and mined in Botswana has been sold for the highest price ever paid for a rough diamond, its owners said – more than $63 million.

The Canadian Lucara Diamond Corporation said in a statement on Monday that the diamond, recovered from the Karowe mine in Botswana in November 2015, had sold for $63,111,111 (or $77,649 per carat).

The diamond, though big, is still a fraction of the size of the 3,106-carat Cullinan Diamond found in South Africa in 1905.

Lucara said that as part of the sale, the company has partnered with Dubai-based Nemesis International DMCC, and retains a 10 percent interest in the net profit received from the sale of the resultant polished diamonds. The name of the buyer was not divulged.

Lucara said the next big sale would be of the “spectacular” 1,109-carat Lesedi La Rona diamond at Sotheby’s London on June 29, 2016. Earlier reports said the Lesedi was expected to fetch at least $70 million.
