Following yesterday’s apology to the nation from President Jacob Zuma, in which he largely blamed legal advice and the Public Works department for the Nkandla issue, Advocate Thuli Madonsela has tweeted a message that for many says it all…
In a tweet posted Saturday morning, South Africa’s Public Protector said:
“We all make mistakes but it is when we fail to take responsibility for or blame others for them that we fail as persons and as leaders.”
Zuma addressed the nation last night regarding the Constitutional Court’s ruling on Thursday that the president of South Africa had failed to respect, uphold and defend the constitution; and that he had failed to defend the public protector when she had issued a report against him over public expenditure on his private Nkandla dwelling.
Yesterday Madonsela had tweeted: “At times we to have to stand alone with only hope as our companion.If you stand for the truth and do so long enough hope does eventually pay.”
