SASSA childcare grant payment date for April confirmed—plus fraud case update
SASSA has confirmed the childcare grant payment date for April, along with other grant payment schedules.
South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) beneficiaries can now mark their calendars, as the agency has confirmed the payment date for the childcare grant in April.
SASSA provides financial support to millions of South Africans, including elderly citizens, children under 18, disabled individuals, and war veterans.
SASSA Childcare grant payment dates for April
Beneficiaries of the childcare grant will receive their payments on Saturday, 5 April 2025. Here are the payment dates for other grants:
- Old age grant: Thursday, 4 April 2025
- Disability grant: Friday, 5 April 2025
SASSA official surrenders to police over fraud charges
In a separate development, a SASSA official from a local office voluntarily handed herself over to authorities at the Kliptown Police Station on Sunday, 23 March 2025. The official, accompanied by her lawyer, faces multiple fraud charges, making her the eighth SASSA employee to be implicated in an ongoing investigation.
SASSA National Spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to assisting law enforcement in tackling fraud within the system.
“As SASSA, we will continue to work with the law enforcement agencies and provide them with all the necessary information at our disposal that they need to ensure successful prosecution of all those involved,” said Letsatsi.
Meanwhile, the bail hearing for the seven other accused SASSA officials has been postponed to Tuesday, 1 April 2025. They appeared before the Lenasia Magistrate’s Court, facing over 1,000 fraud-related charges.
Other SASSA updates: COVID-19 SRD grant payments
SASSA has also confirmed that COVID-19 SRD grant payments will be processed from 26-29 March 2025. Beneficiaries can check their payment status via the official SASSA SRD website.
Good news for SASSA beneficiaries in North West
Postbank has announced that it will be issuing new Postbank black cards at the Potchefstroom Post Office (35 OR Tambo Street) from 26-28 March 2025. Beneficiaries must bring their ID when collecting the new card. If collecting on behalf of someone else, an official SASSA proxy letter is required.
