‘Nabi is far from being the right fit for the Kaizer Chiefs job’
Is the clock already ticking for Kaizer Chiefs’ Nasreddine Nabi?
Kaizer Chiefs dropped more points after settling for a 2-2 draw against AmaZulu on Tuesday. What does this mean for Nabi?
Chiefs fail to win again
Kaizer Chiefs, fresh off the disappointment of a Soweto Derby defeat, could only manage a 2-2 draw with AmaZulu. To their credit, they fought back from a goal down to salvage a point. However, it’s not what the doctor ordered for the Glamour Boys. They now sit 14 points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns having played three games more. Chiefs only have two shutouts in 16 games this season.
Kaizer Chiefs fans see more points dropped
New signing Tashreeq Morris’ effort in the 18th minute went down as a Ramahlwe Mphahlele own goal. Tshepang Moremi, a man mentioned as a Chiefs target, equalized for Usuthu in the 23rd minute. Elmo Kambindu put them ahead on the hour mark. New boy Glody Lilepo’s back post header was awkwardly fumbled into his net by Richard Ofori in the 63rd minute to earn a share of the spoils for Chiefs. They now sit fifth in the table. Head coach Nasreddine Nabi is under huge pressure to deliver some type of tangible success for the club this season. However, fans in several comments sections aren’t convinced he’s the man for the job.
Simbine visits the village
Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs recently welcomed Olympic sprinter and lifelong Chiefs fan Akani Simbine to the Naturena Village:
“Kaizer Chiefs hosted South African sprinter and Olympic silver medallist Akani Simbine at the Chiefs village on Thursday, where the longtime Amakhosi fan spoke of the honour of being able to travel to the Club’s headquarters.
“Simbine revealed to the Chiefs players he chatted with after training that he has “driven past here many times and I am pleased to have been given the opportunity to visit Chiefs. I have been a Chiefs fan since I was a little kid and Amakhosi have been in my blood for as long as I can remember.”
Simbine also passed on some words of motivation to the Chiefs players adding, “Coming here and getting to the point where I am one of the fastest men in the world, is a story of consistency, drive, and growth. I have missed out on successes by miniscule things but we go back and look at how we can get better even by 0.1 or 0.2 per cent.’”
He continued, “As a professional sportsman I am inspired by the Chiefs team and I hope that I can inspire them with my story to keep on pushing and keep on making your dreams become a reality. We need to do the best we can.“
