At an astonishingly affordable price of R10,999.00, the HONOR X9c delivers impressive functionality. It’s been dubbed the “unbreakable phone,” and for good reason—it can really take a beating. Whether you drop it from up to 2 meters onto concrete or accidentally dunk it in water, the phone seems almost indestructible.

The HONOR X9c officially launched on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, and I was lucky enough to witness several demonstrations showcasing just how tough this device is. From using the screen as a hammer to drive nails into wood (yes, really) to smashing it into wooden planks and penetrating straight through the wood, this phone can handle a surprising amount of punishment. One of the demonstrations even showed the phone being submerged in boiling water while it continued to record video without skipping a beat.

Additionally, the phone boasts the industry’s first Cushioning Airbag Protective Case and a fully-wrapped curved screen protection layer. The HONOR X9c is powered by a 6600mAh Silicon-carbon battery and supports Adaptive Temperature Monitoring, meaning it can handle temperatures from -30°C to 55°C without a hitch. In terms of storage, you have two options: 8GB + 256GB or 12GB + 256GB, which should be more than enough for everyday use, apps, and media.

Camera

The 108MP camera on the HONOR X9c captures vibrant, high-quality photos that will impress most users. With AI-powered features like HONOR AI Motion Sensing and AI Eraser, it helps enhance your shots. While the AI Eraser works well for minor edits, it’s not a replacement for Photoshop—yet. The AI Beauty Enhancer is another fun feature, perfect for selfies with minimal post-editing. And for content creators, the multi-video tool lets you use both the front and rear cameras simultaneously, making it easier to share content on the go.

As someone who often struggles with anxiety and is conscious about mental health, I really appreciate the peace of mind that comes with a phone like the HONOR X9c.
