The Calabash South Africa 2025 festival is set to happen at Cape Town’s DHL Stadium on January 22 and 23, 2025. Here’s everything you need to know to stay prepared.
Who will be performing?
Pop sensation Robbie Williams and world-renowned rock band Green Day will perform at the Calabash festival spanning over two days, along with a line-up of local artists. Robbie Williams will kick off day one as the headline act. Other artists who will perform on 22 January include GoodLuck, Matthew Mole, and Lee Cole.
This is the second Calabash festival after its inaugural event in 2024. Last year’s festival featured Maroon 5 and Meduza.
Green Day, a Grammy-winning trio with a three-decade legacy, will be performing in South Africa for the first time on the second day of the festival. The punk rock band The Offspring and the local rock band Fokofpolisiekar will join them.
Road closures and parking
The City of Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith, stated that a few roads around the DHL Stadium will be closed to ensure the safety of pedestrians and also those attending the concert. He added that motorists should be prepared and avoid the areas with road closures or congestion.
As a result of the festival, several roads in and around the Green Point Precinct will be closed, leading to traffic congestion.
The City advised of the following road closures from 06:00 until 00:00 on both 22 and 23 January 2025:
- Fritz Sonnenberg Road (between Beach Road / Bay Road and Granger Bay Boulevard)
- Vlei Road (between Helen Suzman Boulevard and Fritz Sonnenberg Road)
At the Civic Centre, the City will open its parking bays for those with festival tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. The parking areas are accessible from Hertzog Boulevard incoming and on Civic Road.
Calabash South Africa ticket holders can take a free bus from the Civic Centre and Thibault Square to the DHL Stadium on Wednesday and Thursday. More details on the shuttle schedule are available on the MyCiTi website.
