Cape Town plans 7-hour electricity maintenance in six suburbs
The City of Cape Town has stressed that the planned maintenance on the electrical infrastructure will impact only six suburbs.
As part of scheduled maintenance, six suburbs in Bonteheuwel, Cape Town, will experience electricity outages for at least seven hours on three different days in November.
The maintenance work will be carried out over three days on 21, 26, and 28 November 2024 from 08:30 to 16:00 if all goes to plan.

The municipality has emphasised that the electricity supply interruptions will only impact the highlighted areas on the maps and only on the relevant dates.

POWER COULD BE RESTORED ANY TIME
The City of Cape Town said electricity supply could be restored at any time and customers must please treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the interruption.
“Residents are encouraged to switch off appliances as a precaution and to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on,” the metro said.
However, in the event that power is not restored within communicated timeframes, residents have been urged to check the the municipality’s official communication channels, including the social media channels. Alternatively, they can contact the call centre before logging a service request in relation to the planned maintenance work.
RESIDENTS NOT AFFECTED BY PREPAID ELECTRICITY METER UPGRADES
Meanwhile, the City of Cape Town has reiterated that its customers are not affected by the 24 November deadline to update prepaid electricity meters.
The municipality said all the approximately 570 000 City prepaid meters have been done.
