Table Mountain Cableway back in business

The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) yesterday announced that cable cars will resume normal operations on Wednesday morning, 30 October, weather dependent.

“Safety experts have worked over the weekend to investigate the fire that broke out in the parking garage structure of the Lower Station on Thursday. We can confirm that the flames and the heat did not reach the machinery operating the movement of our cable cars and we can now safely resume operations,” Wahida Parker, Managing Director of TMACC said.

“We thank the public for their support and understanding. We again thank the many agencies and partners who helped on Thursday to bring the fire under control and to safely bring all 400 visitors down from the mountain,” Parker added.

Refunds to be given

TMACC also said that all of the outlets, retail and food and beverage, will be open, and that those who have bought tickets have a window period in which to use those tickets or they could request for a refund for them.

‘People who have bought tickets have a window period in which to use those tickets or they can request for a refund. Anyone who celebrated their birthday during October will be able to redeem their free birthday ticket during the month of November.’ TMACC said in their blog.
