Munich to Cape Town flights see new onboard upgrades

Lufthansa has officially unveiled its new Allegris cabins on its non-stop flights between Munich and Cape Town.

As reported by Travel News, the Allegris cabins will offer economy, premium economy, business and first class passengers new comfort and luxury.

Lufthansa’s Senior Director of Sales for Southern & East Africa, Rene Koinzack, said that the enhancement will elevate the travel experience for South Africans.

“The introduction of the Allegris cabins is anticipated to shift travel patterns, encouraging more South Africans to choose Lufthansa for international flights,” Koinzack said as per Travel News.

Allegris replacing 27 000 seats

Earlier this year the airline announced that the new Allegris cabins will feature on the airbus A350 flights between Cape Town and Munich.

Boris Ogursky, Lufthansa Media Spokesperson for Europe, Middle East and Africa, told Travel News that they were very happy to offer the new seats to the South African market. Ogursky added that Allegris would give passengers in economy, premium economy, and business-class a higher level of comfort and luxury.

“With Allegris, more than 80 brand-new Lufthansa aircraft, such as Boeing 787-9s, Airbus A350s and Boeing 777-9s, will fly to destinations worldwide.” the airline said.

“Aircraft already in service with Lufthansa, such as the Boeing 747-8, will also be retrofitted. The simultaneous improvement of the travel experience in all classes and the replacement of more than 27 000 seats are unique in Lufthansa’s history,” the airline added.

What do the new cabins from Lufthansa offer?

The new cabins will feature in economy, premium economy as well as business-class.

Economy class passengers can enjoy additional seats with more leg-room, tablet-holders and USB ports.

Lufthansa Premium economy guests will also have more space as well as a fold-out leg rest. Adjusting the seat will not affect passengers in the row behind.

Business class passengers can take advantage of a suite with sliding doors for privacy in the new cabins. These suites also come equipped with a wardrobe and personal minibar. Seats, which come in four options: classic, double, extra space seat or a privacy seat, all recline to a fully flat bed of 2,2 metres.
