The world’s friendliest cities
South Africa’s mother city has just been crowned one of the top 10 friendliest cities in the world, according to the Condé Nast 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards.
As reported by Cape Town Etc, the 2024 Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards is the 27th edition of the annual awards, which are based on reader ratings, with 575 048 readers voting in the survey this year.
“There are thousands of cities worldwide, yet no two are the same. Each urban area is packed with its own unique mix of restaurants, shops, architecture and nature—all of which are brought to life by the charm of its people. Particularly when in a crowded metropolis, immersing yourself in the community is essential, as good company goes a long way in making a trip both more enjoyable and comfortable.” the publication says.
Beautiful Cape Town took a prime spot at number five in the friendliest cities list, with a high score of 91.30
“Slotted in the gap between mountains and ocean, Cape Town is a port city rich with remarkable scenery. Table Mountain is its most iconic landmark, named one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature for its flat peak accessible by cable car, while Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden is a 528-hectare natural paradise teeming with rare flowers and native birds. Don’t miss Robben Island across the water, home to the former prison which held Nelson Mandela and now a crucial museum for understanding Cape Town’s complex history.” Condé Nast wrote.
