Eskom announces 10-hour power cut in Gauteng
Eskom’s scheduled maintenance will lead to a 10-hour power outage in parts of Gauteng on Thursday, 3 October.
Sections of Braamfischerville in Soweto, Gauteng will experience a 10-hour power outage due to Eskom’s scheduled maintenance.
The maintenance is scheduled for Thursday, 3 October, from 8:00 – 18:00.
GAUTENG AREAS AFFECTED BY ESKOM PLANNED POWER OUTAGE
The power utility said there will be electricity supply disruption in Soweto due to maintenance that will be conducted on the distribution network.
“Eskom will be replacing rotten poles that carry the medium voltage power lines as part of its maintenance programme,” Eskom said.
The power outage will affect customers in Braamfischerville on Thursday, 3 October, from 8:00 – 18:00. The same maintenance will also be conducted on 8, 9, 10, 15, and 16 October, from 8:00 – 18:00.
Eskom said the interruption of electricity is necessary to perform essential maintenance on its distribution power lines. However, should any circumstances beyond its control arise, the planned electricity maintenance may not proceed.
CUSTOMERS URGED TO TREAT ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES AS LIVE
In the interest of safety, Eskom said customers should treat all electrical appliances as live at all times during the power outage.
“Eskom apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused by this maintenance. Should circumstances beyond the control of Eskom arise, the planned electricity maintenance may not proceed as communicated,” the power utility added.
In addition, Eskom said should circumstances beyond its control, the planned power outage in Gauteng may not proceed as communicated.
