South Africans can expect even more flight frequency to Singapore this holiday season, as Singapore Airlines recently announced it would add more flights along the route this December.

According to Travel News, the airline will add a thrice weekly service to its already daily schedule, bringing the total frequency up to 10 flights a week for the holiday period from 11 December 2024 to 10 January 2025. Singapore Airlines will also add these flights from 2 April 2025 to 24 October 2025.

Flight schedule

The schedule for the three-times-weekly additional flights for December 2024 to January 2025 is as follows:

  • The departing flight will leave Singapore on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 16:35, arriving in Johannesburg at 21:15.
  • The return flight will then depart Johannesburg on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 22:30 and arrive in Singapore at 14:55 (+1).

The flight schedule for flights between April and October 2025 will then be as follows:

  • The departing flight will leave Singapore on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 13:55, arriving in Johannesburg at 18:35.
  • The return flight will then depart Johannesburg on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 19:50 and arrive in Singapore at 12:15 (+1).

More holiday flights from FlySafair too

In similar local airline news, FlySafair also recently announced that it will be increasing capacity ahead of South Africa’s summer season with the addition of two aircraft to its fleet.

According to Travel News, the two aircraft will be Boeing 737-800 NG’s and are expected to add 12-14 flights per day to the airline’s schedule, which is 189 seats per flight.

The airline has not yet revealed the routes on which the two new aircraft will be used, other than it will likely add capacity to South Africa’s Golden Triangle, which is Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.
