On Tuesday, 19 March, the City of Tshwane’s Water and Sanitation Department will take a proactive step by installing a special pipe on the main bulk pipeline.
On Tuesday, 19 March, the City of Tshwane’s Water and Sanitation Department will take a proactive step by installing a special pipe on the main bulk pipeline supplying water to the Queenswood East and West Reservoirs.
This measure aims to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the water supply system in the area.
Ahead of the planned shutdown, efforts will be made to fill the affected reservoirs in Tshwane, minimising any potential disruption to water supply.
However, residents in certain areas of Tshwane may experience a water interruption lasting up to 12 hours, from 9:00 to 21:00.

TSHWANE’S WATER WOES CONTINUE
Tshwane, too, has faced challenges, with recent efforts focused on restoring water supply to Bronkhorstspruit and its surroundings following a critical breakdown at the water treatment plant.
Just yesterday, 14 March, the City reported a minor setback in its efforts to install a pump and motor at the Tshwane Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant. A glitch experienced on 13 March delayed the expected completion time.
However, the service provider was expected to return to the plant yesterday morning to rectify the issue. If successful, they would commence pumping without further delay.
CITY IMPLEMENTS NEW SECURITY MEASURES
To prevent such incidents in the future, the City is taking proactive measures. “The City is embarking on erecting a new fence around the plant to better secure the plant and prevent access, which we suspect is conducive to sabotage and arson. A contractor has already visited the site to conduct an assessment and will furnish the City with a quotation,” stated the City.
The proactive measures demonstrate the City’s commitment to ensuring a reliable and sustainable water supply for its residents. This commitment remains steadfast despite the challenges posed by infrastructure maintenance and external disruptions.
By addressing water issues promptly, the City of Tshwane aims to minimise inconvenience. It also seeks to safeguard essential services for its communities through implementing preventative measures.
