Kaizer Chiefs are set for a season of change at the end of the season, both coaching and player-wise

Chiefs opted against making any signings in January, but that is set to change in the next transfer window.

Amakhosi have changed their playing personnel so much over the last two seasons, with very little reward. At the beginning of the current season, Chiefs made a total of nine new signings bring optimism to the fanbase. However, just like the previous close season window where they made another nine signings things have not worked out. Going into the off season window there have already been a whole host of names linked with a switch to Naturena.

During the last transfer window, Chiefs had been linked with the likes of Fawaaz Basadien from Stellenbosch FCOswin Appollis of Polokwane City has also made the list as well as Riaan Hanamub of AmaZulu. Another player that was linked with the club is attacker Tashreeq Matthews, who ended up signing with rivals Mamelodi Sundowns. In the goal keeping department, they have also been heavily linked to Nigerian international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali

Additionally, the likes of Sage Stephens and Siphesihle Mkhize also recently made the Chiefs list. In more recent times they have been credited with a move for Orlando Pirates long-term target Shaune Mogaila. According to The Citizen, they have an upper hand in beating both Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns to a big target. That being Sekhukhune United and Bafana Bafana international Elias Mokwana

MOKWANA HAS OPTIONS

“It’s confusing for a player when two big teams (Chiefs and Pirates) are eager to sign him, especially if there is that one team that has your heart. But, when things like this happen you have to make a proper choice. Sometimes it’s not all about money, because you just want to see your career elevated and to be recognised. For him (Mokwana), it is about getting as much game time as he can and being able to feature more for Bafana.” Said the source.

The source then went on to reveal why Chiefs have the advantage over both Sundowns and Pirates for Mokwana.

AMAKHOSI HAVE ADVANTAGE OVER PIRATES AND SUNDOWNS?

“What’s good is that he is only 24-years-old, and any team that will be able to get him they will know that they have made a good investment. He has been doing well for Sekhukhune, that’s why he has been called up to Bafana Bafana. In my view, a move to Chiefs will be good because they are building and if you look at the squad they have, he will be able to play. It will be difficult if he chooses Pirates, the competition is much tougher. But, he is a good player and I believe whichever team he choose he will be able to play.” Said the source on Mokwana’s prospects.

It now remains to be seen if all three of Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns bid for Mokwana. Most importantly, it will be interesting to see which team he chooses to join.
