A MAJOR BOOST FOR THE ECONOMY
City of Cape Town Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith said the Cape Town Cycle Tour has been a staple of the city’s event calendar for five decades and is revered by cyclists across the globe.
Alderman said the cycle tour is an event that not only attracts thousands of people to our city during race week but has provided a major boost for our economy annually.
“The cyclists have spent the better part of the year preparing to take on this challenge and having as many people cheering them on from the sidelines as they make their way across the Peninsula would serve as great motivation for them.
“As the City, we will be there to see the cyclists off and we hope Cape Town’s residents will also line up the roads to give them the extra boost for the long ride ahead,” he said.
