N2 partially closed on MONDAY
SANRAL has announced a three hour partial road closure on the N2 between Makhanda and Fish River in the Eastern Cape.
The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (Sanral) advises motorists travelling on the N2 in the Eastern Cape on Monday to plan their trip accordingly due to road closures.

UPGRADES TO THE N2
The N2 between Makhanda and Fish River Pass will be closed for three hours for blasting operations. The road will be closed between 3pm and 6pm.
“The temporary road closures are unavoidable as Sanral continues its work to upgrade the road in the Eastern Cape, which will ultimately be to the benefit of road users,” says Mbulelo Peterson, Sanral Southern Regional Manager.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
Motorists travelling westwards between East London or Qonce and Gqeberha may consider using the following alternative route:
- From East London, follow the R72 to Port Alfred and Kenton-on-Sea through to Nanaga. Turn left onto the N2 and continue on to Gqeberha.
Motorists travelling eastwards between Gqeberha and Qonce or East London may consider using the following alternative route:
- From Gqeberha, follow the N2 to Nanaga and turn right onto the R72 at the junction at Nanaga. Travel on via Alexandria and Port Alfred to East London.
- From East London, turn left onto the N2 and travel westwards through to Qonce.
