Coach Rassie Erasmus has cleared the air after the public had a lot to say about his Springboks alignment camp selections
Seasoned Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus took to X (the social media platform previously known as Twitter) to remind South African rugby fans about what the alignment camp means as seen in his post shared on Friday, 23 February.

SPRINGBOK COACH RASSIE ERASMUS ON THE ALIGNMENT CAMP
An ‘alignment camp’ allows the coaches to lay down their plans and structures for the year ahead and beyond,” Cape Talk reported.
In total, 16 uncapped players have been invited to the camp including nine forwards and seven backs. Some of the players named are the following: Neethling Fouche, Johan Grobbelaar, Celimpilo Gumede, Hanekom, Venter, Marnus van der Merwe, Van Heerden, Feinberg-Mngomezulu, Hartzenberg, Jordan Hendrikse, Horn, Nohamba, and Morne van den Berg.
Taking to X, Rassie Erasmus said the alignment camp doesn’t mean that those are the players who will play for the Springboks this year.
“Just like in the past, there is a purpose for every camp,” Erasmus wrote on his timelines.
“It’s crucial to keep in mind that an alignment camp serves a specific purpose and doesn’t determine the entire squad for the year,” Darren Carlson from SAFFAS Abroad added.
Carlson also shared that there are “exciting times ahead for Springboks.”
