In honour of Slater, who turned 52 on 11 February and is still competing against surfers half his age at the highest level, here’s a look back through the ages.

Kelly Slater is an 11-time world champion and is widely regarded as the greatest professional surfer of all time.
He was 56 Championship Tour victories to his name.
