Rhulani Mokwena on Bafana’s AFCON performance
Mamelodi Sundowns head coach, Rhulani Mokwena shared his review on Bafana Bafana’s performance at this year’s AFCON.
Mamelodi Sundowns boss Rhulani Mokwena is delighted and proud of Bafana Bafana as he reviews the team’s Afcon run.
Mokwena says the national side, Bafana made the nation proud and credited boss Hugo Broos as Sundowns had more players in the team than any other PSL side.

Bafana played seven matches at the Afcon showpiece in Ivory Coast, they bagged four wins, one draw, and registered two defeats – the Sundowns boss is delighted in his review.
In an interview with Radio 2000, Mokwena says the Bafana team has a long way to go but there are good positives to take from the Afcon.
At the same time, the astute boss and reigning DStv Premiership champion with Sundowns, Mokwena downplayed their dominance in the squad.

Despite losing to Nigeria on penalties in the semi-finals, Rhulani Mokwena is confident the Belgian boss, Broos assembled a good Bafana team – saying they were unlucky to lose.
“We can think what we want to say about the number of players that come from this team and that team and that team,” said the Sundowns boss about Bafana’s Afcon run.
“But that team still needs to be prepared, and the team still needs to be psychologically in the right space and an understanding of the opposition and put together properly, you know.
“That’s huge kudos to Hugo Broos and his technical team with the analyst, Sinesipho Mali.
“The assistant coach Helman Mkhalele. Like any other football fan in this country and being as patriotic as I am, I think we have the right to celebrate and be proud of the achievement.”

BAFANA MADE THE ENTIRE MZANSI PROUD AT AFCON
In addition, Mokwena stated that the former African champions came close to beating the Super Eagles as they made great strides.
“Even though we know we can do better. You know, we know we could have beaten Nigeria, and that’s the truth based on the performance also,” added the Sundowns boss as he reviews Bafana’s run.

“They have made great strides, and they have made the entire nation happy.
“So I’m proud of our national team and relatively the success that we achieved because I think we surpassed the expectations of many people but huge kudos to everyone involved.
“The association [SAFA], the Bafana coach Hugo Broos, and the group of players that went to represent us.”

As things stand, Bafana are expected to touch down in Mzansi on Wednesday morning where fans will welcome them at OR Tambo International Airport.
