Bafana Bafana are up against Morocco on Tuesday night and coach Hugo Broos is in a bullish mood, saying the North Africans have quality but are beatable.

At the same time the Belgian mentor, Broos is aware of an uphill battle that faces his Bafana side but he is confident they can cause an upset against Morocco who have quality and are ranked number one in Africa.

The clash comes as continental powerhouses such as Egypt, Ghana, Tunisia, Senegal, and Cameroon were dispatched out of the Afcon tournament – Bafana’s Broos will look to beat Morocco with quality players.

Having lifted the Afcon trophy with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, Broos believes Bafana “can create another surprise” against Morocco.

“We are aware of a difficult task that’s waiting for us. Morocco are No.1 in Africa, having also been fantastic at the World Cup…they were fourth [at the World Cup in Qatar in December 2022],”’ Bafana coach Broos said ahead of the clash against Morocco.

“Their squad is full of high-profile players. It’ll be very difficult but on the other side, this Afcon is full of surprises as we’ve seen a few big countries are already home.”

The seasoned Bafana boss, Broos added that the likes of Cameroon and Senegal being eliminated means they also have a chance to reach the next round and must beat Morocco.

“A few days ago Cameroon were eliminated, so it’s possible for us to beat Morocco,” added Broos about the Afcon tournament and Morocco clash.

“Secondly, we beat Morocco already in June in Johannesburg, where we played a very good game.

“That makes us believe in ourselves…it’s possible to beat Morocco tomorrow [tonight] but we will have to be at our best to create another surprise at this Afcon.”

Meanwhile, Bafana midfielder Siphephelo Sithole suggested that Morocco will have to sweat for a win.

“Everybody knows that the game is going to be difficult for both teams but I think if we can bring our A game tomorrow [tonight] we will be able to get the best result. We also need to work as a team,” Sithole noted.
